Starting Friday night we celebrated the Jewish new Year. Friday night my sons came and my nephew and his wife. We were only seven but it was very pleasant. We had a yummy supper.
chicken soup
sweet and sour meatballs
chopped liver
apples and honey
standing rib
potato muffins
honey cake
noodle pudding etc.
It was a quiet but happy party. Today my son brought my grandson and we walked to synagogue. Thankfully it was a sunny but windy day. It was my grandson’s first time. He did great. He had a chance to hear the shofar. Tonight we went out for supper with friends.
All in all it was a very pleasant  and relaxing weekend.

"Then you shall transmit a blast on the horn; in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, the day of Yom Kippur, you shall have the horn sounded throughout the land…And proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." (Leviticus 25)

The Shofar, a well know symbol of Rosh Hashanah, is one of the earliest instruments used in Jewish music. Usually made from a rams horn, a shofar can also be made from the horns of other animals, including those of a goat or sheep. It is the one musical instrument that has not changed in over 5,000 years.
