THE FUNERAL AND AFTER- ok

Yesterday was a very long day. The limo picked us up at 6:45. We went to the funeral parlour and met with the rabbi. He was young and VERY nice. I was still sad that we couldn’t have our own. The service was held in the small chapel as so many of our friends are in Florida. Two of my nephews got up to speak. It was very touching as they repeated what we had talked about with the Rabbi and they weren’t even there. Then we drove out to the cemetery. Was it ever cold!

People came back to the house after for lunch. There were people all afternoon. By about five the house was fairly empty except for immediate family. So we had supper and waited to see if anyone else would show up. Finally about nine one of my friends came. She stayed awhile. When she left we had a snack and by ten I was in bed!

Today will probably be another long day. My sister doesn’t stop talking so it is very hard. It is hard to get a word in and tiring to hear the same stories over and over.

My grandson was here in the afternoon. SO CUTE!!!

I’m off to try to get a couple more hours sleep. No rush to get up as no where to go.

My daughter is trying to get tickets for us to fly back to Florida on Sunday. She was very upset last night as she had to cancel her ticket for last Saturday and couldn’t get a good deal from the airline. I told her not to worry about it. The last month has cost us a fortune for plane tickets, the funeral etc. What can you do? I will be glad to get back to Florida only to settle in and RELAX!!!!

I know airlines will sometimes give a special discount when you have to fly to a funeral… maybe they’ll do the same on a rescheduled flight? Worth a shot…

Airlines used to be accomdating to people who suffered a death in the family and only charge half for airfare, but I supposed that practice has gone the way of the dodo bird…that is extinct. Sorry to hear about the problems with air travel. You don’t need that right now.

If you have a copy of the death notice the airlines are usually very accommodating. When my Mom died, I got reduced fare for the round trip to go home.
