IT’S TIME FOR A TALK-read
When my son and his wife returns from Florida I will have a talk with them. We are Jewish and the girl he married is not religious at all. At first she was going to convert but I don’t think she has yet. I know they went for classes at the Temple but nothing came of it. Anyhow I think it is time for me to talk to them and explain to them how important religion is in a family. Of course I would hope they raise their children Jewish but if they don’t then they should choose another religion. So I will try to explain how important religion is for a young family. I hope I can express myself in the right way. I think what made me ready to approach them was seeing lights around their house. They aren’t the typical Christmas light BUT a Jewish home does not have lights.
In a way I am very confused and narrow-minded. I know that there are many interfaith marriages today. I would love to hear from anyone who is in an interfaith marriage. I would also love to hear from children who were raised in an interfaith marriage. How did it affect you?
