One thing I haven’t really mentioned is that my Mom is staying with us for a while until the apartment she’s on the waiting list becomes available.  Now it was supposed to be that her house would be sold by this time but it’s not, deals on the house keep falling through.  Truth is my parents didn’t do a good job at keeping up the house and it needs a lot of work.  At some point we’ll get it sold and be done with it.  Now I’m a little surprised I’m so calm with that since we moved in there when I was 3 and it really was the only home I knew.

But that’s not what I really was going to write about, the thing is my Mom is 81 and set in her ways and it’s creating some friction here at home.  The latest came last night, Ella was spending the night at her friends and I was off so Cindi and I were taking advantage and having a date night and going to Outback for dinner.  Well 20 minutes or so before we were leaving to drop Ella off Mom suddenly is says "what are you leaving for my dinner?"  Now she never was much on cooking, Dad actually did most of the meals growing up, but you would think she could take care of herself for one meal.  Then Mom comes out and says that she would be happy with a hoagie or burger.  So I got her a hoagie but was a little petty with it and didn’t take the extra 10 minute to hit Wawa or even a Subway but just grabbed one at the supermarket.

There’s a lot of other little sniping between Cindi and Mom and I just feel caught in the middle and don’t fully know how to handle it all.  But I’ve got to head to work so I’ll pick this up later.  Have a great day.

Having anyone in your home for a length of time is pretty rough – especially when it’s a close relative that feels they can demand things like that. I hope her apartment is ready soon!

I think if my MIL had to move in, albeit temporarily, I would go on a vacation….until she left! 😉 Regardless, you all will survive and you’re doing the right thing…I think. 🙂
