Dad update – GOOD news!
Mom called me at work yesterday. Someone up above must have been watching over me, because I actually had good enough cell service in the building to have the phone ring, and talk all the way through the conversation without losing signal once! It was also a surprize to me that I was actually at my desk when she called. I tell ya, someone up there likes me.
He likes me enough to do all of the above, as well as keeping my Dad safe. His tests came back fine. The doctor told him that he could lose some weight (not a surprize), watch his diet and bring his cholesterol down, and then gave him some thyroid medicine. Other than that, he said that if he had indeed had a heart attack, as the doctors in the smaller town had stated, he was not able to tell. He said that Dad’s heart was in pretty good shape, and had good blood flow.
Needless to say, Mom and Dad were both in good moods once they heard that news!
My older brother actually gave in to Dad’s wishes, and did not go down with them for the test, however. Dad’s argument was a good one. First off, of course, the usual, “There’s nothing you can do!” didn’t really hold much water, but his second one was the one that counted. The day of Dad’s test was the day of a big show in the town where my brother lives. This show is a big get together of businesses, who can show their products and gain business. My brother has a booth at this show every year, and, from what I hear, makes a LOT of money off that show. He was willing to give up the chance at making all that money, just to go sit with Mom while Dad had his test. He did, however, tell Mom that if Dad needed surgery, she was to call him, and he would leave RIGHT THEN! I’m sure he was as happy as I was to hear the good news! Of course, this meant that Mom had to spend her time in the waiting room alone. I’m sure that was a little difficult. But she said she made good time of it, and read 3/4 of a book. Then she said, she hadn’t really read a book in years! (just a little ironic background on Mom, she is the head librarian in the county library)
So anyway, thank you ALL for the prayers. If anyone doesn’t believe in prayer, this might help them to believe that prayer DOES work! God Bless you all!
Grins! 🙂 – – – –

Hey, what’s not to like?! 😉 I’m all grinny now about the good news for your whole family. Proof that prayer works is all around us…one of my biggest proofs is downstairs in his highchair yelling “Da-DA! Da-DA!”

Prayers have a mighty power. That is too funny about your mom being a librarian and reading the book while waiting. Thanks for the great news. I’m sure everyone is very relieved. 🙂

I thought that it was ironic before I even read it ~ A librarian not reading? Glad to hear the good news!

This is very good news. It’s nice to hear good parent health news! re: your mom – it’s like the cobbler’s kids with no shoes, right? Surrounded by all those books, but who has time to read??

Hi Sunshine…. was just thinking of you, wondering if you were still around OD…glad you are. Time has a way of scuttling right on doesn’t it.. Glad your dad is doing okay. I assume by your US map you are in the New England states? I visited there last October and loved it. Would you believe the main focus of my trip was cemeteries where the old poets are buried…grin.. Love to you
