I’ve a question for you.  Would you hire this guy?

I went to an interview today for a temporary position, but it’s only temporary because the company I would be working for lost the contract to another company…    two years ago.  Aparently the “takeover” keeps getting pushed back and pushed back.

So, I was to be there at 1:00 PM.  I left on time, and got there about 20 minutes early.  I had a cigarette before going in, and went in.  The lady I was supposed to meet was still gone for lunch, I guess.  She was late getting back, to the tune of 1:20.  So, as I sat alone in the conference room waiting for her arrival, everyone else who worked in the building kept walking by the door, looking in at me and saying hi.  I thought this was a little strange, but, hey, who am I to say anything, right?  One lady even went so far as to say, “Don’t worry, you’ve got the job.” and walk away.  I don’t know if I was being judged by my looks, or what, but it definitely made me feel good to think that after being on display for everyone like that, someone would actually have the nerve to say I already had the job, without even speaking to the woman in charge.  ***

Finally, the woman in charge showed up, and then they couldn’t get their OWN printer to work.  I did not offer to see what I could do, although I could have.  LOL  But the lady in charge was there, and another guy who I THINK was her assistant (kinda cute btw), and then there was another guy, who would be my immediate supervisor, if given the job.  Mostly they talked about the down sides of the job.  Having been out of work for 13 months, I didn’t even blink at them.  They told me that the building I would be working in was not really up to standards when it comes to work environments.  Whatever.  After talking about the position, and what was entailed, and why it was a “temporary” position, they all said they’d get back to me, and I followed the “supervisor” type guy over to the building I would be working in.  They were right, it wasn’t the Ritz, but I’ve been in worse buildings before.

So I drove home, and got online.  I sent an email to VL’s father telling him how the interview went, and that I was still waiting on word as to whether I got the job or not.  Just as I hit send, my phone rang.  It was the lady from the temp agency, telling me I start work on Friday.  I wonder how much my appearance did to actually help me get the job.  LOL  I guess I’m not so bad looking!  LOL

***  Before I left for the interview, I got dressed as in the picture, and asked VL how I looked.  She said I looked pretty snazzy.   I laughed at that, and asked her if it was really okay, because I thought I looked like the main pallbearer at a funeral, with all the black I had on.  She said it looked conservative, but still looked good, so I took her word for it.  Apparently it paid off!

Sometimes those temp job interviews are just to make sure you are not some type of psycho; with that vested suit I am sure you erased any concerns they might have had!

Hey, man! You look good! Where’d you get that suit? 🙂 I am glad you got the job! Great work!
