Not as exciting as Band Camp, but…

Yeah…I don’t get around too much here anymore. Not because I don’t want to. It’s just the same excuse every time – just more of it. Busy:

• Boss retired on February 17th and there is still no replacement. Not that it is a big deal. We’re doing very fine without her – even better perhaps. She did little but get in our way anyway. However, the Director has given me a few extra projects that she would have received (and passed on to someone else since nothing ever really stuck to her). Three out of the four in our branch here have applied for the position, including me, and only five total applicants. All the interviewing has been done. We just await the selection. A criminally slow process it seems.

• Attended the three-day annual reunion of the old WWII soldiers I wrote of here.

• Asked/volunteered to assist in planning a departure for a popular co-worker (and close friend of mine) who immigrated to the Outback of Australia. I put together a PowerPoint “roast” of her that had thirty-eight slides which included approximately fifty photographs that I found or took. Took lots off time to put together, but it was worth it and was well received.

• Put together another “after hours” party for this above mentioned friend since she was part of our Happy Hour crowd and the “Cheers” group wanted to gather to bid her farewell too.

• Annual three-day Memorial Day weekend at (former bar proprietor) lake house with a lot of the “Cheers” gang.

• Celebrated a great Father’s Day with all three of my kids. My two boys moved from Birmingham, Alabama to New Orleans. A good distance away (about 90 miles) so as not to be underfoot so much. Now all three of the kids live there and it’s convenient and fun (get to ride Harleys together with my middle son) and…more expensive – they visit and we eat/party and the oldest penis still pays.

• Hosted a mini-family reunion (because my side of the family is…mini). My brother was delivering his Porsche to me for care and feeding while he’s overseas for three years. My sister came in from Dallas and we met my aunt (and kids) in New Orleans for a couple of days. It had been well over ten years since we were all together.

And there you pretty much have it with the major stuff. Lots of “littler” stuff too, but each of the above rates a separate entry probably. Hope to find the time soon. Most of them have some really cool pics associated with them too.

Speaking of pics, here area a few taken at the “after hours” party for the girl gone down under. She was an avid pool player. Guess she still is actually – there is a funny story on that too I’ll have to remember to write about on that entry.

I can think of nothing more terrifying and flattering than being roasted by you, Phaedrus.

(See…do so note you.)

Wishing you good luck on getting the boss’ position. Maybe only a few of the projects will stick to you, too. As IF! I see you covered the T & A well in the above pics. I imagine your friend/co-worker who went down was very pleased with her roasting. Have fun stroking the Harleys, Batman! LWM 143

“The oldest penis pays..”Classic line!! I’m gonna wait until the just right moment and steal it from ya.

*perk* you said “went down”! Good luck with getting the top dog position. I have to go now…I can’t get my mind out of the gutter.

Here’s your chance to take it easy…put the feet up on the desk…cruising into a spectacular sunset and what?!?! You applied for what?!?! You did what?!?! Sick SOB – must be the military background. Puts all that ‘need to excel’ ‘no one does it better than me’ stuff into your head! *g* “the oldest penis still pays.” Yep. It’s the law.

laughing at the rear view. How nice of them to hold the pose. Also, if you need care and feeding of the Porsche while you do anything else, let me know.

ryn: Yes, I Googled his unit, and I’d do it again! Have I ever told you how much I enjoy your notes? Also, I thought that’s what it meant. I guess I take any reference to race as a negative thing, and maybe I’m too cautious. It was a different time back then and what was acceptable then might not be now. If it was derogative, why would they sing it? Was it derogatory?

RYN~I’ll take my chances with the spanking. 😉
