spurting
well, i have lost track of time and it sneaks up on you to run away. i have been so busy learning that i haven’t even been reading a whole lot. mostly skimming over the entry titles and seeing if i need to peek in and skim the entry too.
i have been learning to weave with beads off-loom. i love the tubular peyote stitch the best. it is soothing to watch the beaded rows circle around and climb as you work the tiny beads in. i made a 6 inch tube of beads. with tiny little beads and some stuff called fireline and a really sharp thin needle. with a teeny tiny eye.
i learned to thread the needle without the cheater tool. it’s actually easier to do it without it.
i learned to do a tubular spiral stitch. i made a purple and gray bangle bracelet with it.
i made the bracelet twice because it sucked the first time. i’m going to make another one using some different bead shapes. the tubular spiral stitch is the first new stitch i learned last week. pretty much 2 days to get the hang of it.
then i learned how to make a flat spiral stitch. no matter how much it sounds like the tubular one, it’s different. it looks different and all. they are only similar in mechanics. it was pretty easy to do and i made several bracelets in one day. i have taken care of a bunch of my christmas list.
i also learned circular brick stitch. i have some dagger beads. they look a lot like petals. and i’ve been making flowers with beads. i need to figure out the trick to making them blast off and take off into the sky, but the ones i’ve been settling for look pretty good too.
i have taken the flowers and sewn them to the outside of the tubular peyote. i ran a length of 14 gage copper wire through the tube and stuffed two round crystals into the open ends of the tube and made double looped wire wraps to hold it all together.
the weight of the bead flowers will cause the peyote tube to turn on the wire so that the flowers face the floor.
not pretty anymore. i am going to win.
i am at jenn and lolly’s house. i came up so i could spend halloween with the girls. i miss halloween sometimes. this year was one of the times.
lolly lives with this new man in her life. he and i are very busy getting to know each other. his name is al. al likes hannah and hannah likes al. i think that is important.
hannah misses me. and i miss her.
and i like jenn’s dogs too. they both like me very much and they both think i’m easy.
i am easy.
i bought them some pup treats. it’s air puffed non fat treats. every morning we talk at the table while i eat my breakfast, every once in awhile i toss them a treat in the air and they catch it and eat it and then sit quietly, staring at me till i toss them another one….. it’s fun in a weird way. for them and me.
i am going to teach jenn some beading this week and hannah is working on a project for christmas and she is actually surprising me and how easy and natural working with wire and beads is for her…… i need to go home after next week.
there is a long needle that splits down the center and is joined at both ends that is perfect for these tiny bead projects. i just googled and did not find the name of these needles, am going to look to see if the ones i own have a packg id,,no id on package…ahhh here we go! and i bet you know all about these needles… http://www.beadalon.com/needles.asp

I love peyote beading. Like most things of this nature, I really wanted to learn to do it, but I had so many other things going at the time, that I never followed through. Hope to see some photos of your projects. Have fun with the dogs. I loves me my dogs.

Nice you can visit your girls. I am happy for lolly having a new man in her life. And he liks Hannah….all good stuff! You went so over my head with your beads but still enjoyed reading it. Once you are able to put pictures up of these things maybe I will get what you are saying. Your words make them sound really cool, though.

So nice to see you back, and see you are enjoying new crafts, Halloween seems not to happen along the lane. Nice news of Lolly, Hannah, Al and yourself; the story of the stranger who was the friend you didnÂ’t know! It nice to see good news especially when it comes two days together, the other being the plane that landed with out wheels; and every one walked away Â….

Peyote? Isn’t that some type of drug? 😉

You certainly have been busy. My wife does a lot of beading, mainly necklaces. I am glad you had a nice visit with Hannah and Lolly. How is Hannah getting on now? ~ Hugs ~

RYN: it took me about 15 hours to make the Orpahn Trudgers. Ithis is why I don’t sell my knitting. Sorry. As good as you are with your hands, I doubt it would take you long to learn to knit.
