No time to breathe!

What a week! I tell ya…I really don’t have time to go to work!

Monday Lee had a physio appointment. I’m glad to say we have managed to get it transferred to Peterborough now so no more 2 hr trips both ways! I took him, and visited with a friend who is a Sister on a ward there for a while. On the way back to Lee I bumped into another friend from the Walk-In Centre, who let on that they are taking on staff again after a recruitment freeze. I know I complained a lot about the place and it really hasn’t changed that much, but I did enjoy the job. Phoned the Manager when I got back and she is gonna keep me in the loop when the jobs are advertised.

Tuesday we had a visit from a guy who sorts out disabled housing, talking to Lee about what he is likely to need. All this to make a report for the solicitors. Also got an e-mail from another job offering me an interview next week. That’s for a Cardiac Research Nurse at a specialist hospital. I was in 2 minds about staying in research but if it is specialising, especially in cardiology, then I am interested. Also got a phone call from another place I’d sent my CV to, Sycamore Harley-Davidson, for a salesman position! I know, I can hear you all saying it, but I WAS a good salesman and selling Harleys would be fun! Anyway, the General Manager has been away in US on holiday so I will be hearing from them again next week.

Wednesday I had to “sign on” to make sure I get some unemployment benefit while out of work, and then Lee and I had a 2 hour drive south to a place called Chesham, for another “report” meeting with a physiotherapist and a Prosthetics specialist. We were there for 2 hours then had the 2 hr drive back. Nightmare journeys. Nothing but road works on the way down there, and the roads around the area were awful! So many potholes….glad I don’t have to ride my bike around there!

Today (Thursday) we were up early, left the house at 07.30, caught the train at 08.30 to go to London. When we got there , it was a taxi drive across the city to Guys hospital for an orthopedic expert report for “the other side”. We got there early, hung around, and were actually in the consulting room for about 15 minutes while he read what “our” expert had written, looked at Lee’s legs, prodded and poked a couple of times , wrote 3 extra lines on the report and said “Right, I’ll write the report up and get it off to them!” And for that he got paid at least £1,000!!! Back across London, onto the train, and back home about 3pm. We are both knackered! Glad to say tomorrow is free, the weather is cold but sunny, so I am hoping to get out on the bike for a spin.

Next week we start all over again!

Monday will be Lee’s physio in the morning, afternoon will see me driving up to Grantham for an orthotic fitting for an insole into my left foot (the one that is 2inches shorter since MY accident.

Tuesday I am off to the interview early, and then Lee has a Gastric appointment in the evening (private) to find out why he’s still throwing up, and then on wednesday we are off for another 2hr drive to see a specialist about Lee’s left knee. The tendons he had replaced 2 years ago have come loose, well 2 of them have. So he needs a proper brace to support it while he gets use of the prosthetic leg sorted, and then he will probably need another operation on the left knee.

So far we have nothing planned for the rest of the week, but who knows!!!!

So that’s what’s happening here at the moment…busy, busy, busy and all good fun!!!

Hugz to all

Holy hectic, Batboy! You really are busy. I’ve a good feeling you’ll have a new job soon. Maybe two even, could you sell Harleys part-time?

well you must have found time for a few breaths or you wouldn’t have got through writing the entry alive! *smiles* good luck with the interview. hugs P

You sure are a busy guy! Maybe you could work part-time selling harleys and part-time in nursing. That would be a good mix, I think. Two things that you really love.

Wow, long day. Brings to mind many a day with Blue. My prayers are with Lee, so hard to emotionally be strong through all the other people deciding his “fate”. Love to you and the rest of the family.
