………..it has been awhile.   I guess this will be something like catch up with me.

We had a 50th birthday party for J’s aunt this weekend.   It was on Sunday and it was a two hour drive to go there, which we hate being that we work on Monday.   But it was really pretty there.   His aunt that held the event has 22 acres with a stocked fishing pond, a log cabin style home, and gorgeous landscaping as well as gorgeous trees and grass.   Kooky got to play with her cousins (ages 5, 3, and 1 and 1/2) and they all had a blast.   She got a bit sick of the little guy towards the end of the day and said that she didn’t like him though.   He was a wobbling everywhere doing everything that she did and it annoyed her.   I didn’t REALLY get to talk to anyone for a long time having to chase her around, but we did have a great time.   She got to go feed the fish in the pond and chase the turkeys that were cruising around, as well as chase frogs and watch birds eat the seed from the many feeders around the house.   We had tri tip, pasta salads, chips, fruit salad, and chocolate cake and cheesecake.   My other aunt works for Ghiradelli and brought 2 boxes of chocolate squares for us to take home and we have all been nibbling on it this week.   Kooky ran herself ragged and slept from the time we left at 6 all the way home, and only woke up briefly after that.  I was worried about her being up all night.   She also slept the whole way there and woke up when we were driving past some horses.   She looked confused and asked me "What’s this?"   She is not used to that kind of land!   It was great to see the family and I loved Kooky being able to spend time with the other kids.

I decided to take Avon one step further this week.   I don’t want customers all over town, but I need a few more to even out my sales.   So I put books in the ground floor bathroom and in the store/cafe on the same floor and I have 2 new orders in 2 days.   They both work in the building or right near and it will be relatively easy to deliver the stuff.   I hope for more and intend to drop off more books in the store at the beginning of next week.   I have been buying a lot as well, but that is also important as far as selling goes.   I am feeling optimistic about it.

J goes to the doc tomorrow, and I hope we find out when surgery will be.   I plan to take the day of + 2 days after just to help him out at home.   He will likely go home the day of, but he won’t be jumping out of bed right away.   He hates needing help, but he’ll have to take it.   His parents can also lend a hand if need be.   He has been feeling a bit of pain here and there, but has been working some relatively good hours.   He is finding out some good stuff too.   He gets free tickets to every event his company sponsors, and that is a lot!   He gets a great discount on tickets for one of the local amusement/animal parks that we planned on going to anyway.   He has brought home a couple of display items, including a plastic beer bottle that is a bit shorter than I am.   Kooky loves it and rides on it on the floor, scooting with her feet.   It makes us horrible parents!!   But it’s cute.

I had an interesting lunch yesterday.   K is leaving our department, and I asked her to lunch.   I have always thought she’d be a cool mommy friend (she has a three year old girl) and I was interested in getting to know her a little.   Our other friend S joined is.   K asked if it was OK for my former co worker C to join us, being that it is a busy week for her and she knows that I dislike C somewhat.   I agreed, knowing that it would change the whole mood of the lunch.   It did.   C is very "me, me, me" and makes it clear when she dislikes something/someone.   We chatted, but she chatted more with K than with S or I.   She did announce that she was married…..to a guy she had known for 10 days!!!   He is 20 and she is around 30.   It is a romantic notion and it could very well work out, but it seems as though he should know her a wee bit better before doing that.   I chose to wait a year after getting engaged to J, but I was a little gun shy having already been divorced.   I don’t know.   I think it is silly.

Kooky is well.   She keeps falling down and scraping her knees while running.  She plays it up so much for me, and acts as though she can’t even walk.   She is eating a lot more and getting a tiny bit less picky, but she only likes milk in cereal and with a small amount of nesquick (she calls it chocolate juice)   Orangey juice is her big thing now for some reason.   Talking more and more and she says everything it seems like.   Singing along to songs, and really well.   I think she is not sleeping great though.   She is a flip flop girl and makes me crazy when she is laying with me during movie night or on weekend mornings.   She has to lay on the pillow horizontally rather than with her head on the pillow and under the covers.   Then she switches pillows, and flops everywhere.   I want to buy her a twin size mattress and convert her toddler bed to a day bed.   She seems to tired some mornings and her weekend naps are really long sometimes.

is that enough catch up?   🙂

The farm sounds like fun. I can imagine that you’d be running around after her….I do that with Ben crawling. It’s great that she slept in the car!
