20 Weeks – 5 Months

Congratulations! You’ve hit the halfway mark in your pregnancy. By now your baby is about the size of a large sweet potato and you should be feeling her move around. Enjoy it — those rumbles are one of the true joys of pregnancy. She’s also giving her new digestive system a little practice by swallowing amniotic fluid. She absorbs nutrients and water from this fluid. The unabsorbed matter continues into her bowel where it concentrates into meconium, the greenish black or light brown substance she’ll pass the first few days after she’s born.

The half way mark. The time is just flying by us. I can’t wait till he is born. I can’t wait to meet my little baby boy. I think about him every day, all day. Today we bought some more things from baby Target. When we got home I lay them all out in front of me and cried. Paddington Bear Cot sheet set. Blue with little trains on it. I looked around our little nursery and I can’t imagine what its going to be like having him here. Sometimes it feels like I’m living in a dream. I feel so blessed. Sometimes I fear that I’ll love him too much, if there is such a thing.

We did buy some baby boy clothes too. Matt picked out some wonderful things. More so for when he gets bigger. But that doesn’t matter. We also walked out with a rocker. Its just beautiful. Very bright primary colours and it goes with the nursery. There is just one item that I would really like. A real rocking chair. Not one of these new ones. A old one. I love the way the warmth of the sun enters the nursery and I was thinking about how special it would be to nurse in the rocking chair.

20 more weeks and then you are here little one. It does feel so far away, but yet it’s just so close..
