Bird Serenade
Friday was a very stressful day. After the long drive on Thursday to find out that we might not close Friday morning was more stress producing. In the end it all worked out. It was only logical and straight forward, the front lawn could not be left half sodded. My daughter informed the selling agent that we expected that the sod would be laid. She spoke to the builder and the whole yard was done. When we are here permenently we will have a well dug for watering. Stanley has already been back in the woods finding maple seedlings. He already has a landscape plan for the backyard. Because of the gentle slope towards the woods he thinks he will terrace the back with railroad ties. We shall see. I was amazed to realize there is no recycling program for our county. I think I will get that going for my little neighborhood after we move.
We are so happy we had the back porch built. The bird serenade is so wonderful. Mr and Mrs Cardinal were are first guests even though they Chirp Chirp….I love to see them. I am going to bring a bird book I have when we next come up to identify some of these colorful visitors. The song fest starts early and ends late….even though I don’t recognize the tune! It is very enjoyable..
I had a lovely Mother’s day yesterday. My daughter and grandchildren took us to dinner in Columbia and I got a wonderful wicker rocker for the porch. My daughter said she remembered how I would recall my happy memories of rocking with my Grandma. Singing and rocking. We are going to Ft Jackson today, about a hop and a skip down the road to speak to a nurse recruitor who I have been corresponding with. Tomorrow we are going to N.R. Goodale State Park for a walk about. It is small but we just want to get out a bit. We have a lot of housekeeping to do with hanging plantation blinds and such…We have all our appliances except a refrigerator so we have been using our big cooler in the garage. We are going to a wonderful nursery called Woodseys or something like that and buy 2 magnolias for the front yard. Fortunately, they will get trickle irrigation from the system we have set up because newly planted trees need a lot of care when they are first put in.
Hope everyone has a good day…..I am….
glad everything worked out for you….. I know you are excited about your new home!……. (((hugs)))…. 🙂

I could jump for joy for the two of you–you really sound happy and well you should. I love it when the cardinals call “sweet, sweet sweet” to their mates and then the mates return the call. Sigh.

Thanks for your note! I just realized that we are the same age. Your passion for the birds and out of the busy life is something that I enjoy also, maybe one day I will be able to retire but for now I have to do what I need to do and I’m really enjoying that, thank God for it too. When will you be moving? It all sounds wonderful!!!Blessings

Hello Darling Ollie, I would love you to post or send me a photo of his house. He is a modern day Dickens, in my opinion and that is high praise indeed. love to you always.

Hi Ollie, I have just read your past entries and found out about you moving to SC. What an adventure!! Are you both going to retire? It will be a big change! R. will retire next year in February. I continue to teach a little, but just enough to still like it. Tomorrow, the last week school starts! Yesss! Then begins two months summer vacation. Next Saturday we leave for a vacation in Italy, in the mountains (Dolomites) We’ll stay two weeks. I hope I find time to post an entry before leaving. BIG HUGS, love,
