My roof has a hole in it, and I might drown!
Oh brother, the tree guys have been here all week. They have trimmed palms, cut down an old pine, and today were taking down a cedar tree damaged by Gabrielle in 2002!….The yard was a mess when I got home from work but I stayed in the house because I needed to rest….I heard a terrific thud and shuddered that they had dropped the tree on the roof….oh, no….says Stanley…..that was probably just the thud hitting the ground….but, but, I say the whole house shook……honey, he says, I know that sound….okey dokey…baby….you know that sound…………………..later, back at the ranch………………… Honey, we have two big holes in our roof……………oh, says me……………..and shut my mouth.
When Stanley got home from work, the tree guys admitted that they had dropped two big logs on the roof and they would go and get some tar and start fixing the roof……."we don’t know anything about roofs"…..so Stanley got up on the roof and began fixing the holes….the logs went right thru the plywood and he is going to have to do a big repair.
He says we are taking the cost off the tree cutting bill………..so dinner was late, Rosie was itching to get out in the yard, and I was stressing over my poor husband up on the roof……I went to check why Rosie was whinning at the door and there was a big black snake lounging on the front walk. Sorry, little girl, you aren’t going to bother that poor snake…..I knew I needed to give him time to slither into the asparagus ferns and there he would be safe….I go back to the kitchen to finish dinner and Stanley comes in washes his hands walks thru the house, opens the front door, Rosie bolts out, grabs the snake, chomps chomps, and the poor snake is crunched! yikes….I can’t stand it….I yell at Stanley to put the poor chomped snake out of its misery…..so he drops a big rock on its head………..oh my gawd, calgon take me away…………………and it is only 7:00pm………..I have been praying for rain…..but, now I’m not so sure.
“There’s a hole in my bucket dear Liza dear Liza!” LOL I had a dream two nights ago about getting bitten by a snake, and we don’t even have them in my country! Hope the holey roof gets sorted properly…..before the rain does come. I smiled at your song title as its a song I haven’t heard of for years and it evoked a few memories. Thanks. Hope all is well with you other than this..take care, hugs P

A snake must have a terrible life. Most of them are harmless and do good getting rid of rats and mice

Yikes! I would be terrified if my husband got on the roof. AND, I’m sorry, BUT the best snake is a dead snake. Thanks for you notes Ollie.

Poor snake…my dad hate snakes but he always left black King snakes alone since they were such good ratters and really did not harm anyone. Rosie was only doing her job! I hope the repairs go well before the season intensifies!

What a day! We are having limbs removed that extend over our roof–I don’t know if I should have read this!!!! Hope you recover faster than fast.
