Sunday on Monday
We had a great day yesterday. After Stanley got home from his two visits we packed our lunch and headed out. Our typical beach treats…..sardines and herring, cheese, crackers, tomato, peppercinis, some fruit, a couple hard pretzels, water, soda, and 2 beers! We didn’t take a chance to go to the beach because of Red Tide. So, again we putted up and down the Intercoastal. We headed south towards Englewood the water is tea brown/green…not it’s usual aqua blue green….We past thru many no wake zones, there to protect the manatees. A lot of boaters act oblivious to the signs…and with the little pontoon we have to always be aware of a big boat going by us and putting out an almost waterlogged wake. When we got to the Flying Bridge, named that because it is an old fashioned swing bridge, the current was very strong and Stanley took the wheel as I had been stirring so he could get some R&R. We got farther into Venice and attempted to moor the boat at one of the inlet areas that have a lot of drift wood. Stanley loves to gather the drift wood….we could not stay there because the waves from big boats passing us kept pushing us farther on the shore….soooooo..we headed out again…we moored our boat at the public ramp in Venice, ate our little lunch and hurried on….we didn’t want the Sheriff to tell us to move on as actually there is no stopping at this ramp except for boat launching and retrival….
We got home about 3:30pm…took our showers and I stirred the pork and kraut….read the paper a little, did one last load of laundry and at about 5pm…we walked down the street back to the boat basin to the OFFICIAL Riff Raff meeting….hehehhe….alot of my fancy neighbors would love for our little community to be gated! But, us Riff Raff members hold true to the fact NO RULES….well, now we would frown if you tried to keep ole chickens and pigs in your yard….even though I would love to have some banty roosters running around…but, you know who would get them. Herself, Rosie! We had fun with our friends and we are all going to the dinner theatre to see The Full Monty!
We came home about 6:45pm ate our little dinner, and then began the "getting ready for work" routine. Lunches, vitamins, and clothes….
We crashed after that and read and watched TV for a while till we headed for nighty night….

certainly does sound like a perfect way to spend a sunday in florida. i guess it was pretty warm down there yesterday. one of my sisters said it was 91 at about 2pm. it was 57 here. not supposed to get out of the 40’s today. not exactly a day to spend outside. take care,

Congratulations on having such a care-free day and thanks for sharing it with us. I love to think of the two of you out there on that boat–we are not sea-faring folk and so enjoy the arm chair boat trips you make. We had dinner with the family at Don Pablo’s, much merriement, lots of food, and surely came home pounds heavier than before; I hear our son’s manipulations worked beautifully.Even his mother in law is preparing a special meal for him on Tuesday, all his favorites, plus a birthday cake (Tues. is his wife’s day off). Writer shakes her head, that boy! Dyslexia teaches people to positively manipulate their environment to favor their needs–he’s a master. The silver lining of a gray cloud, I’d say.

RYN: you asked if I take my pics in macro… I guess you refer to full size! Yes, on my digital camera I use the second largest size so I am then able to use then enlarged well if I need to, then I crop them to whatever size or shape I want on my computer. I rather like the rectangular shape for landscapes etc. How is my old film camera doing? I often miss that, it was a great one and took mostof my best black & whites! hugs P

Your typical beach treats sound delicious! And it sounds like you had a wonderful day. On your note to me you mentioned that you also had a dog named Chewy. My dogs name is also Chewbacca. Named after a character in the movie “Star Wars”I can only imagine how much you loved your dog. My two dogs are the highlight of my life right now. Since all my kids are grown, I would be very lonely if it weren’t for them. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
