My first ever piece

The following attempt at a song was written when I was but a slip of a lad. The lad in question being my father, and the slip being me. It’s about Death, both the act, and the person. I wrote it age 14, and although it’s crap, I post it here, to show how far I’ve come in future pieces.

REAPER MAN

She said “My life is coming to an end”.

All I want is for my baby to live again

Scythe of silver, cloak of night,

People perish at his sight

All my life I run as fast as I can

For the fear of the Reaper Man

Run away now, Lock up tight,

He’ll come after you in the dead of night,

Run away now, Lock the door,

What’s the Reaper man waiting for?

You can run but you cannot hide,

Wherever you go he’ll be by your side,

He got my baby and he’ll get you too,

Run coz the Reaper man is after you

I don’t pretend this is a deep or meaningful song. I wrote about something I have no idea about. It was just something to write. So that was my first ever song.

My first ever poem, was also something of a sorry affair, but mildly better then the above piece.

STARS

Paint yourself in yellow and red,

lie down upon a starry bed,

eyes look up into the sky,

from where you and your lover lie.

Burning haze throughout the night,

glowing embers cast firefly light,

The sparkling jewels that flicker and glare,

an infinity from god knows where.

Stars a million miles away,

light the line that leads to day

Around each one that’s doomed to die

A million other bright stars lie.

So as you fade off into sleep

and pray your soul till tomorrow keep,

if tonight you die have not a care,

tomorrow the stars will still be there.

Slightly better. These are my two oldest pieces from my notes on my computer. They do get better, I promise.

I like the stars one :o)
