Peapod
So I ordered from Peapod for the first time and it was delivered today. I am/was really excited about it. It was so nice to be able to order it online, not have to deal with incompetant store clerks and have it delivered to my door, not having to worry how I’m going to get ten bags of groceries up two two flights of stairs, all while carrying my 18 month old daughter.
Unfortunately, Nick put a hole in my excitement bubble, saying that my shopping at Peapod only made the statement that I am lazy because Peapod is for "old people like my Grandma who can hardly walk. We have two groceries stores right across the street."
I made the point that I saved $40 and he said I bought things I normally wouldn’t have. I didn’t. I bought things I would have anyways and actually, I didn’t purchase a few things because, well…I’m broke.
This is what I got:
1 gallon 2% milk
1 gallon Skim milk
2 cans Cream of Celery soup
2 cans Cream of Chicken soup
1 can peaches
2 cans green beans
1 box brown minute rice
1 box rice a roni
1 box angel hair parmesan noodles
2 bags whole wheat pasta
2 jars pasta sauce
1 can spaghetti o’s
6 pack strawberry applesauce
1 bag iceberg lettuce
4 single serve yogurts
1 can pinto beans
1 box frozen garlic bread
1 lb maple glazed deli turkey
1 bottle squeezable grape jelly
1 box aunt jemima pancake mix
1 bag frozen edamame
8 pack double roll charmn toilet paper
250 count napkins
1 loaf whole wheat 9 grain bread
1 dozen eggs
I think that spending $53 is pretty good for all that….25 items (plus duplicates of some, making it more than 30 items). The toilet paper in and of itself was 8.99–comparable to if I had bought it at the grocery store or Target.
My cousin began using it when she was on bedrest while she was pregnant, but continues to use it even now. It’s just soooo convenient.
I wish Nick would understand the hassle it is for me to go grocery shopping and maybe look at a grocery bill every one and awhile. I usually spend over $100 easily.
Til next time, I bid you adieu. Ciao bella.
I think you did a great job at the grocery shopping and that that’s a fantastic way to shop! It’s not lazy AT ALL. I’ve been reading for a few days and just thought I’d say hello. 🙂 I’ll be commenting on future entries as well, if you don’t mind. *HUGE HUGS*

Oh, men. They don’t understand what a wife does or need at home, do they? Everything you do are wrong and they complaint too much unnecessary. I too, always buy only things that I need; especially when you have a big family. Trying my best not to buy sweets for the kids. Once or twice is ok, u know. But I think you did it good with the grocery. 🙂
