Elephants and bare feet
I had plans last night of a movie and dinner. I accomplished the dinner but the movie was put off until a later date as my wifes back was bothering her. She did not feel like sitting in a theater for an extended period of time. My sister-in-law and her husband accompanied us to the next town and a favorite place noted for its extremely fine food. We had to go early at 6:30 p.m. to get seated as the 7-8:30 reservations were all taken. The hostess whom we know from many past nights told us that they had a new Chef. BELLS==SIRENS==WHISTLES==!!! But it was still great. WHEW!!!!But for a moment there I was worried. Change unnerves me.
Yesterday afternoon I went for a beach walk. The day was warm at 50 degrees and sunny. I had the beach almost to myself as I meandered along the waters edge. I did see several dogs and their pets strolling down the beach. They had to be pets as they were on a leach and followed behind the dogs. Some dogs even were out without their pets and just enjoying the sun and the beach. Now I am certain that some will take exception with my feelings but they are mine and no apology is offered. I am not a pet person nor am I anti-animal. I respect animals and certainly hope that they are taken care of and not harmed in any way. I feel for the plight of the pets abandoned and running loose and certainly do not condone Drug testing on animals for non- essential reasons. I just feel that there is something wrong with the picture of a grown human following a pet with a bag, a tool, and a napkin. Is this what we have come to that we are servants of the animals? It must be true as I read in other Dairies that the animals are the earthly forms of Alien Presence on this planet. Mulder and Scully please take note. And I have just developed this urge that plays upon my addictive, low esteem, gigantic ego and unique personality. I cannot resist the urge to buy a big leash and an elephant and take it for a walk in town. With a snow shovel and a dump truck as accompaniments I should become very noted in town. My granddaughter who intends to become a Vet thinks this is suitable for me. I wonder if I will be allowed on the beach after Memorial day when the Beach Animal laws kick in. After all the ordinance specifies Dogs on the signs posted along the beach. Without the elephant along I was able to remove my sneakers and walk in the water. Cold but a good sign for the season. Sand on my toes.!!! First walk down the beach this year and a perfect day to do it in. Thanks God.
I think I need a Meeting or at least to talk with another alcoholic person. As soon as I think I am unique I am in trouble and I sense the return of Me and not We.

Have you read the entries of Katherine? She sure gave me insight into the problems of struggling with alcoholism. …seven.

This “the return of me and not we” is an excellant reminder to help me watch out for my “Off” way of seeing and help me continue to wage off depression.
