Day off, which of course meant obligatory lie-in.
I’d planned on doing an undercoat off watered-down white paint in the second bedroom today, but the roller that mum lent us is pretty old and wasn’t rolling the paint on smoothly, so instead I used a paintbrush to paint the skirting boards and around the top and bottom of the walls, and just did a tester patch with the small roller so James could see what it looks like when he got home. Bit bummed out to be honest, I’d really have liked to have gotten at least an entire undercoat on today, but we picked up a decent set of rollers from B&Q this evening so I can crack on with it before work tomorrow.
Anyway, this is how the room looks at the minute:
and the plan is to do a few undercoats of white, then the walls will be a light blue and we’re thinking a light-grey carpet and either blue/grey curtains.

We’re going to (hopefully) be getting a kitten soon! We’ve been discussing it for the past few months, and since it’s kitten-season currently we’re hoping we can get one from the rescue centre sometime around Mid-May (I have holiday from work, so I’d be here with it everyday for at least the first week). Anyway, we went to see Brenda (James’ grandma) this evening and she very kindly gave us loads of cat-related goodies (carry holdall, blankets, bowls, etc) so now I’m just all giddy and excited again. Hopefully the thought of having a kitten will actually spur me into getting all the various oddjobs around the house done now 😉
ryn: thanks, I had a look at the colleges near me but they don’t do it. There is a distance learning course, but it turns out it’s around £500 to do it. Which I don’t mind really, but I just don’t have that kind of money. The jobcentre are rubbish, I keep mentioning it every time I go and they just ignore it and carry on with telling me off for not doing enough to look for a job in retail.
